“In 100 Days, ICE Officers Arrested over 41,000 Illegal Immigrants”
“Staggering number of visa overstays now biggest problem in illegal immigration”
Between January 22 and April 29, ICE has arrested over 41,000 illegal immigrants on the coattails of President Donald Trump’s executive order for stricter immigration enforcement. Compared to this time last year, this is a 37.6% increase in arrests. Of these 41,000 arrests, 10,845 were of illegal immigrants without criminal records. This is a huge jump from the 4,242 arrested under Barak Obama’s administration.
Another article from the Washington Times found that visa overstays seem to be the largest issue for immigration. Their data demonstrates that of the 54 million that “checked in” last year, 630,000 remained in the country. This indicates that the United States’ southwest border is becoming less of a focus for immigration enforcement.
Donald Trump is embarking on a “killing season” when it comes to immigrants. He is arresting immigrants, including green card holders, visa overstays and other persons trying to gain status here in the US, some even without criminal records. Hence, it is important to sort out all immigration concerns and paperwork before running into any encounters with ICE.
