“Donald Trump's travel ban fundamentally changes American history”
Date: January 30, 2017
Summary: Donald Trump has issued a travel ban on seven Muslim-majority nations: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya, and Yemen. This temporarily does not allow refugees from entering the United States as a temporary suspension in order for a new system to be introduced. There have already been legal challenges by several judges that are likely to be long and complicated, perhaps leading up to the Supreme Court. So far, Trump has rejected all criticisms, and the White House states he is deeply committed to this policy. Many have criticized the travel bans because of how green card holders are also being treated. Many experts believe this is damaging to the US image because many of the places were terrorism seems to be rising are not even a part of the ban, and this sudden change will have a lot of chaos and confusion- especially in airports.
Trump’s Travel Ban
The implementation of Trump’s travel ban has caused complications not only to the refuges trying to get into the country but also to the green card holders that have left the country and trying to return. This does no good to our country due to the fact that a majority of the countries he listed are not places where major terrorist activity is arising, and being that our nation is a superpower, ultimately we are obligated to help those in need, but here we are turning them away.
