* There are three key elements the president seems to have taken into consideration while constructing a bill that attempts to modernize our immigration system. These actions are necessary in order to fix a flawed system that leaves over 11 million people in the dark. The three main elements are: Cracking Down on Illegal Immigration at the Border; Deporting Felons, Not Families; Accountability – Criminal Background Checks and Taxes.
* I’m not sure if these objectives are realistic, but I believe they have a good basis behind them. I think two of the main objectives of this bill, stronger border security and deporting felons, are obvious problems with immigration that have been addressed numerous times by many cabinets. The one thing that makes this bill extremely unique is the allowance of illegal immigrants to gain citizenship for 3-year periods of time if they prove to meet a certain criteria that the administration has spelled out.
